This
two day course will show you how to produce and keep up to date
multiple Visio™ diagrams of IT systems and infrastructure. As few
IT specialists have ever had structured training on the use of Visio,
many organisations find a variety of standards and formats end up
being adopted, increasing the workload on IT teams.
Our course is designed
for existing Visio users who already have an awareness of the user
interface. In the course we build on diagramming best practices
and show many of the short cuts to create and update diagrams.
The latter part of the course
shows how to automate the diagramming of data centres, racks, cabling,
networks, servers and software diagrams. The effort needed to maintain
accuracy across large numbers of diagrams can be significantly reduced
by awareness and usage of standard Visio features.
The course uses various
working examples covering physical infrastructure, networks and
ITIL service maps so that delegates get experience of applying different
techniques.
By attending our course,
delegates will;
- Understand how to use various Visio short cuts and standard
features that save time
- Work on examples of IT systems that emphasise diagramming
best practices and techniques
- See techniques that reduce the effort creating and maintaining
multiple diagrams
- Increase their confidence and skill in using Visio as
a workplace tool
Diagramming of IT infrastructure
is a large subject area, so our course structure covers common issues
and can vary to meet specific needs of the delegates. Courses held
on site can be used to focus on particular diagramming needs if
required.
